DRUGS

The damage that meth and other illicit substances have done to our society cannot be overstated.  As Commonwealth`s Attorney, I will continue the work of supporting and prosecuting the cases brought by our local law enforcement to be sure that every effort is made to ensure that our children do not have to be raised in a place where drug use is inevitable.

There are some in our General Assembly who are pushing harder and harder every year to normalize, legalize, or significantly decriminalize this behavior. And while an acknowledgement must be made towards addictive treatment and counseling, I feel that the office of Commonwealth`s Attorney is primarily there to prosecute that which the law has deemed illegal; and I will do so.  I will take full advantage of options for treatment and counseling that are available to me, such as the recent Drug Court established here in Page.  But I will not turn a blind eye to the blatant illegal activity what does not simply stop at drug use, but further devolves into thefts, assaults, and other violent criminal activity.  We will not surrender the “War on Drugs” while I am your Commonwealth`s Attorney.
